Ever thought that Morgan Freeman and Nelson Mandela somewhat look alike? Well you're not alone! And Morgan Freeman is even going to play the role of Nelson Mandela in the upcoming movie Invictus, a biopic based on Nelson Mandela's life during the 1995 Rugby World Cup in South Africa.
Thanks to this official picture below we may have a first look at Morgan freeman as President Nelson Mandela and Matt Damon as Rugby man Francois Pienaar:
"Invictus tells the inspiring true story of how Nelson Mandela (Morgan Freeman) joined forces with the captain of South Africa`s rugby team (Damon) to help unite their country. Newly elected President Mandela knows his nation remains racially and economically divided in the wake of apartheid. Believing he can bring his people together through the universal language of sport, Mandela rallies South Africa`s underdog rugby team as they make an unlikely run to the 1995 World Cup Championship match."
- Matt Damon as Francois Pienaar, the captain of South Africa`s rugby team
- Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela, the then newly elected President of South Africa
- Scott Eastwood
- Zak Feaunati as Jonah Lomu
- Grant L. Roberts as Ruben Kruger
The film is based on the book 'Playing The Enemy Nelson Mandela And The Game That Changed a Nation' by John Carlin. Invictus should be released on December 11, 2009.
Even if I admire what Nelson Mandela did in his life, I would not have been much interested in biopic. But with Clint Eastwood directing the project, I can but give a try to the movie Invictus!
